Lars And The Real Girl

I was telling some of the guys at work about this today. Written by the writer of the incredible "Six Feet Under" its about a guy and his new girldfriend. It looks like it could be very funny and very touching at the same time. Check out the trailer....

The Cinema Schedule

Here are the films that I will most probably be going to see this month.

September 7th
Run, Fat Boy, Run

September 14th
Disturbia
Shoot 'Em Up
3:10 To Yuma
Superbad

September 21st
Death Proof

September 28th
The Invasion (Maybe)
Rocket Science (Hopefully)

It is a very busy and expensive month but what can I say? I love movies and I love going to the cinema!

I'm Back!

From where? I hear you ask. Well to be honest, absolutely nowhere. Well why haven't I posted in so long? I hear you cry. There really is no excuse I just a) Had nothing really interesting happening and b) more or less forgot I was keeping this blog. So I thought I'd make interesting things to post about and try and keep on top of it again.

I reacquired my love for cooking. Tonight was home made chili beef burgers which were absolutely fucking fantastic! So I decided that I'm going to start posting up my recipes to share my love for interesting food with the world. Everything is simple and the ingredients are easy to get hold of. I'm going to start this tomorrow as I'm going to be making spicy pork ribs. Then I will post my beef burgers next time I make them so I can include photos.

Been to see a few films this month as well. Shakey sorted out some advance tickets to see "Knocked Up" which was incredibly funny. Went to see "The Bourne Ultimatum" with the famous N & C audio visual club. Last week I also went to see the new John Cusack film "1408". All the films have been impressive but my film of the month has to go to "Knocked Up". September is a busy month for the N & C A/V club as there are more or less two films every weekend.

I also picked up my tickets for the Seasick Steve gig at the Birmingham Academy 2 in October which I can't wait for.

My next "Consider Yourself Schooled" will also be posted very soon so keep tuned!

Consider Yourself Schooled Part Two - Del Tha Funkee Homosapien

Del tha Funkee Homosapien a.k.a Del the Funky Homosapien a.k.a. Deltron Zero a.k.a Russel Hobbs was born Teren Delvon Jones and hails from Oakland, California.

In 1991 Del released his first album "I Wish My Brother George Was Here" with the help of his cousin, Ice Cube and his crew "Da Lench Mob". Del went on to release an album in 1998 with his own crew "Hieroglyphics" titled "3rd Eye Vision" and two albums in 2000 titled "Both Sides of the Brain" and "Deltron 3030". The latter was produced by two big names, Dan the Automator and Kid Koala. In 2003 he featured on two tracks from the huge debut album from the "Gorillaz" including the top ten hit "Clint Eastwood".

Del's tracks are often noted for his use of his strange sense of humour and rapping about his interests including video games, rap battles, comic books and Sci-fi. Slating his first album because he felt it was over produced and fake he has gone on to use more old school sounding methods for the production of his tracks. Del has a huge love for Hip-Hop and has spoken out several times about the gang mentality that has grown within the industry along with subjects such as gun crime, drug dealing and so on. As you'll see from the video below he has a genuine hatred for manufactured music which is more popular than ever at the moment.

If You Must - A song about personal hygiene a very under discussed subject in the world of Hip-Hop...

Wes Anderson Goodness...

For your viewing pleasure I present to you "The Darjeeling Limited" trailer.

All In All A Good Day...

Got up at 10am and had three mugs of coffee and a bacon sandwich on crusty bread with red sauce. Finished up volume seven of "Preacher" and checked my e-mails. Walked to the post office to collect two parcels, my new watch and my new sunglasses (lot of good they'll do me!). Went into town and collected my phone from o2 as they have finally repaired it. Met my main man Rich at Nosties and took in some culture at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and checked out their celebration of British modern art. There is still more to come as BBC2 start showing "Heroes" tonight so I finally get to check it out. Its a double bill as well!

Friday 20 July 2007

Another Great Shepard Fairey Piece...

Taken from Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier's recent art show "Crazy Cult". Inspiration came from the classic John Carpenter movie "They Live".

Another Film I'm Excited About...

What a great year it has been for movies and theres still more to come! They haven't put out much in way of marketing for this film but they rarely do for Wes Anderson movies and yet I still cannot wait to see this. Apparently the trailer is out in the states soon so I hope to see it on youtube in the next few days. The plot is apparently about three brothers (Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman) taking a train ride through India after the death of their father (I think).

Rain Delays Play...

I was supposed to meet up with some of my old secondary school classmates for a drink tonight. Thanks to this excellent weather though we thought it would be best to cancel and try again at a later date. I'm different to most people because I do enjoy this weather. Don't get me wrong I feel really bad for the people who suffer the floods and stuff and I don't know what I'd do if it happened to me. The rain does mean though that there are less people around and the streets are quieter which means a lot for me living in the middle of what feels like a DMZ sometimes.

Consider Yourself Schooled Part One - Wu-Tang Clan

Well I thought that I would start with something fairly obvious. The Wu-Tang Clan formed in New York in 1992 mainly thanks to the RZA and GZA, two cousins who had previously worked in the record industry with very little success. These two along with Ol' Dirty Bastard then proceeded to build the group with friends from in and around the New York area. The final line up of the group was made up of RZA, GZA, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, Method Man, Raekwon and U-God (Silly names I know but hear me out...). They took the name of the group from the 1981 martial arts film, "Shaolin and Wu Tang".

A year later in 1993 was the first time the Clan made themselves known to the general public with their single "Protect Ya Neck". Thanks to the underground reaction to this single they were signed to RCA and released their first album "Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)" in late 1993.

With a low use of samples (apart from the kung-fu film skits) and what sounds like low cost production methods that RZA uses is what gives the album its gritty and underground feel that most Hip-Hop at the time was avoiding. Calling Jazz pianists, such as Thelonious Monk his biggest influences certainly gives the album a very different sound to the "Gangster" Hip-Hop that was so popular both then and now.

The first to do many things in the world of Hip-Hop, such as start their own clothing label, create slang terms in their songs that become used the world over, cite comic book references in their tracks and change samples to do things that people couldn't imagine at the time. Yet these things do not change the fact that out of four albums the only one you really need to hear is the debut. Perhaps the world of business and making money took too much of their attention away from actually making good music, perhaps innovators in this as well as we see this even more nowadays.

Must Have Album - Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)

Protect Ya Neck (Remember it is 1993 and they made this video on their own with no money and only the equipment they had!)

Consider Yourself Schooled...

I have always had a massive love for music. This has increased though while working at Nostalgia & Comics in Birmingham thanks to being introduced to loads of new stuff which is mainly down to Rich and Dave. Stu as well probably if he had spent a bit more time there in the last six or so months.

The one genre that I love the most has to be Hip-Hop and its only in the last seven or so years that I've gotten into it properly. I'm sick of defending the good Hip-Hop that is out there because like most genres its outnumbered in a big way by the shit that is seen as "Mainstream". Its because of this that I have decided to take it upon myself to "School" people, so to speak in the art of real Hip-Hop. Over the next couple of weeks I will post an artist that I feel people should give a chance, why they should give them a chance and the one album they should have if they don't have any others by that specific artist.

I hope you people find this useful.

This Is How You Market A Movie...

Several of the popular 7-Eleven stores in the U.S have been transformed into "Kwik-E-Marts"! This is absolutely genius!
What fascinates me about this is the fact that they would not have to promote this movie at all and it would make a ridiculous amount of money but they still go to the trouble of doing something different that has never been done before.

This Shit's Chess, It Ain't Checkers...

Yes as you may have noticed I haven't posted in a good couple of days and this is probably due to a few different reasons A) I just haven't thought of much interesting stuff to post about, B) I've been very busy chasing my bitch of a landlady for my deposit from my student accommodation C) I haven't been on the computer much at all because I've hardly been at home.

To be honest it is probably more down to reason B than anything else. If I'm not doing more tidying at the house I'm chasing her down on the phone, on my way to Coventry to meet her or on my way back from Coventry after she has cancelled said meeting. I think I'm nearly there now though as she said she will hand the cheques over on Thursday when I meet her at the house, we'll see though...

Urban Dead Update

Well it has been a rough few days for Alfonso Durant in the world of Malton. The other night I was left standing around all evening in the middle of the street. Obviously one of the un-dead saw me and decided to take a chunk out of me and nearly killed me until my hero a mister "AI Zombie" came along and not only took down the living dead piece of shit but also went to the trouble of healing me back up. Then yesterday I almost did the exact same thing again after taking down a zombie and building my points up I have two action points to make it to a building and just about made it. Today I took a couple of swings at a zombie but alas, no kill and I easily made it into St. Christopher's church in Shearbank.

Hopefully the barricades will hold out until tomorrow...

Doing Something Different...

I love street art (NOT Graffiti) and always have, always will. No matter what other people say, in my opinion it will always be the most accessible form of art for everybody. I especially love it when new artists enter the scene with something brand new that has never been done before.

This piece was created by a very clever lady named "Anna" from Baltimore but placed in Manchester. I have to say that the use of textiles within the street art world is a very rare thing but this is absolutely genius. Like good art it looks great and gives you something to think about.

Lets hope that she keeps up with this and comes up with some more pieces. The bad thing about any art is that someone can create an amazing piece but then disappear as quick as they came about.

People Ask Me Why Adi Granov Is My Favourite Comic Artist of the Moment ...

See for yourself.

Rocket Science

Could this be the next "Rushmore" or "Squid and the Whale" or just another cheap imitation? Watch the trailer and hazard a guess yourself...

Urban Dead Update

So it has been a few days since the last update and not a lot had happened until tonight. I logged on to start exploring more of the map and moved from Rolt Heights into another green area of the map, Pashenton. Here I killed my first zombie which moved me up a level and left me with enough XP points to buy a new skill. I decided to go against the advice of Rich and Stu who told me the "Free Running" skill is the best to buy first and purchased the hand to hand combat upgrade which gives me a 40% chance of hitting someone with my axe. I then moved into the suburb of Earletown which is yellow on the wiki-map. Here I attacked my second zombie of the day but alas no kill this time. With 5 moves left I decided it was time to set up camp but every building I tried to enter was strongly barricaded so I couldn't enter! I'm now waiting for my points to build back up and I hope I get enough soon otherwise I'm stuck standing in the middle of the street all night!

It could be game over for Alfonso Durant!

When Does Buying Become Collecting?

I was thinking about this after we had a conversation at work the other day. When exactly do you become a collector? Now I buy and own A LOT of shit including DVDs, Comics, Cd's and Toys amongst other things. Even though I buy and thoroughly enjoy all of this stuff I wouldn't refer to myself as a collector of the bulk of it.

For a start I own well over 4 short boxes worth of comics but I really wouldn't call myself a comic collector more of a comic reader.

I say this because I'm not trying to have complete runs of stories, characters, appearances etc. This to me is the behaviour of a collector. I'm a massive fan of Ironman but it is not one of my missions in life to have every comic with an appearance from Ironman in it. I just happen to have the comics that I have because once I have read them there is nothing for me to do with them. I suppose I could a) sell them, b) throw them away/give them away or c) just wait for the trade paperbacks. Now both options a and b would just be me wasting my money and I like the fact I have the opportunity to re-read things. Option c is better but some things take ages to be realeased as a trade or never get released. I also like reading my books weekly as I know there is always something coming.

I am exactly the same when it comes to my DVDs. I do not buy new releases just down to the fact that it is too damn expensive.

I only buy films that I like (or get given ones I don't) and I only get them when they are cheap enough. Now for instance I have wanted both "The Departed" and "Children of Men" for ages and when they were new they were £22.99 and £17.99 but the other day I got them both along with "Garden State" for £20. If I were a collector surely I'd be double dipping all the time for the best version of the film?

The only thing I would really class myself as a collector of would be toys. This is really strange as well considering the fact that I don't actually own that many.

I rarely buy toys nowadays and I have to be really, really impressed with them but when I do I am reminded of why I do buy them. I suppose it is kind of like buying a piece of art that you can have to look at, enjoy and keep. Again though there is this conflict of whether I am a collector or not because most of my toys come straight out of the packaging and go on display. Don't collectors keep them in the boxes?

So when do you become a collector of something? Let me know because I really have no clue whatsoever.

Roll On Monday...

Because the new "Beastie Boys" album is released and personally I cannot wait. Titled "Mix Up" this is the groups seventh studio album and first completely instrumental album. Joined by Money Mark and no sign of Mix Master Mike this could be amazing and will hopefully be a return to form of "Check Your Head/Paul's Boutique" proportions. No words, no samples and no scratching just twelve tracks of pure quality. Already with two brilliant singles released here for your pleasure is the video to the brilliant "Rat Cage".

Not Bad Meaning Bad But Bad Meaning Good

"Superbad" is the new movie from Director Greg Mottola who is a newcomer when it comes to movies but he did direct three fantastic episodes of the fantastic TV show "Arrested Development". The movie stars Michael Cera (Again of "Arrested Development" fame) and Jonah Hill. This looks like it could be pretty funny with some very silly humour and Cera playing more or less the same character he does in "Arrested Development" even if it is a little more rude! It could go under the radar so here for your viewing pleasure is the "Red Band" trailer meaning that there is some swearing. Enjoy!

Urban Dead

Following the rave reviews this game has received from my good friends Rich and Stu I have joined Rich in defending the city of Malton in the fantastic Urban Dead. A very basic but fun online game that to be fair is just a huge map of a city that you explore while trying to survive a zombie outbreak. Limited to 50 moves per day it limits it but keeps it fun and very addictive at the same time.

Move through the street into buildings to search for items and camp out or go out on a rampage and try and find and kill as many zombies as possible with your available action points to build up your experience points. Use these points to build up the attributes of your character to make him harder than a stale loaf of bread.

In the last two days I have attacked a zombie, ran away from a zombie, camped out in the fire station, killed a zombie and now after searching a local police station and finding two pistol clips, a shotgun shell, another radio and a flak jacket I have no action points left so I'm left camping out at the cop shop.

I'll keep you up to date on my movements in the city of Malton and exactly what is going on with my character Alfonso Durant.

Go on give Urban Dead a go you know you want to!

Toy Tailoring

Isn't it amazing exactly how far we have come when it comes to toys? Take something as simple as giving an action figure real material clothing and look at what we used to get (and what still seems to be the norm now)

Badly fitting, saggy and disproportionate clothing and body parts. Spidey looks like he lost a good few stone since he started rockin' these new black digs! To be fair these two toys are aimed at completely different markets but just look at this

This is the new RAH Bruce Lee from Medicom and it is simply fantastic. High quality materials that fit the figure perfectly. Now this could just be me being anal retentive but in stuff like this its the details that make something nice to look at or can have the opposite effect and can make it look like a turd.

Like I said the two figures are aimed at different people but what difference to the manufacturer would it make to have the Spidey's clothes fit better? It wouldn't cost anymore in fact it may even end up being cheaper as they would be using less material. Sales may even go up because the real cloth version would look just as good as a painted figure. Maybe its for nostalgic purposes as all figures used to look as cack as this back in the olden days?

I can't wait to get my mitts on one of these Bruce Lee figures!

Oh Ebay How I loathe Thee...

This is due to the fact that I lose countless minutes/hours/days sitting here watching and waiting for auctions to end. The most recent one?

A full run of volume 2 of Daredevil from the Smith "Guardian Devil" arc to the most recent issue. 97 issues of mostly great comics. This is among other Daredevil issues including the first appearance of Elektra. Outbid by a pound by some scum who probably thinks he can make a bit of profit. Oh well it is my own fault I suppose down to the fact that I never put in my highest bid as soon as I should.

Thanks to Pappy though I now own all of the variant covers to the first ten issues of the New Avengers. This then lead to an interesting conversation at work. More on that next time though!

Job Done!

So on Thursday myself and my classmates recorded our live studio programme. All of the worries of the last few weeks disappeared and I have to be honest it went really well. People laughed when they were supposed to and everybody had a lot of fun. Our lecturer more or less told us that our programme would get us a pass which was very relieving.

On Friday the entire class had to come in so we could view everyone's programmes together and write our evaluations. There were four programmes to be viewed and ours came first. I was really pleased with how the programme turned out and most people laughed at the segments that I had directed and shot with my friends so I was pretty chuffed at that! A lot of people went for a comedy orientated piece but to be fair our programme seemed to get the best reaction.

After the lesson everyone congregated outside of our building as people said their goodbyes. It didn't feel real to be honest as everyone kind of dispersed fairly quickly. A lot of us also went out on Saturday night for a friends birthday. Everyone had a really good time (some more than others!) and then we said our proper goodbyes at about 4 in the morning. This felt real as it got pretty emotional at times and took over half an hour before everyone went their separate ways.

I've had a great first year but to be honest I'm glad its over as I really need a break from it all. I'm going to spend my summer working at the shop, savings lots of money, buying stuff and hopefully going on holiday. I've made loads of new friends at Coventry and have passed the year fairly comfortably (I think!) and I'll definitely be going back next year.

Monday 4 June 2007

One Down

And one deadline to go. Both are for the exact same module but the Friday just gone was the hand in date for the written work aspect of the module meaning I had to hand in my workbook. For those that don't know a workbook is a book that we have to keep that we put in all of our ideas and work as we go along through the module. This includes notes on lessons, sketches and the work that I put into the module. I always leave these till more or less the last minute which is just a stupid idea meaning I have to type up and create around forty pages of work usually in about three or four days. Forty is more or less my average page count but this one I bumped up to around fifty three pages. Obviosuly its the quality not the quantity but I think thats usually bullshit because the more bases you cover the more chance you have of a higher mark.

This weeks deadline is the actual creating of our piece of work. Working as a whole class has pretty much been a lot of fun at times but has took the piss at others. I get the feeling we could fail but I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

Until next time...

Done It Again

I have haven't I? I'm just leaving it too long to post on this damn blog. I really don't know how the legendary Richard does it over at Fictions. It just seems to pour out of him and to be fair pretty much all of it I find very interesting. How am I supposed to keep up with mine and Stu's little blog war the way I'm going. We're nearly there though and I can smell the end of Uni which should result in a few more posts. I do have some big news though and I swear there is a little bit of blood in it over this. I'm going to New York in September! That has got your attention hasn't it! Well more on this next time faithful readers and I swear you won't have to wait long. Friday is the penultimate deadline!

The Joker

So its been over a month since I last posted. Why is this? I hear you ask loyal readers. Well I bought myself a 360 which resulted in me leaving all my Uni work till the last minute and only last week did I actually catch up. I am back though with this fantastic picture.

Apparently this is a picture of Heath Ledger as "The Joker" from next years "The Dark Knight". The picture can be found at www.ibelieveinharveydenttoo.com which looks like a defaced version of Warner Brothers www.ibelieveinharveydent.com. The picture has been revealed one pixel at a time by fans by sending an email and recieving a code to put into the site.

I've liked Heath Ledger as "The Joker" since the beginning as it was someone who people weren't crying out for due to the fact that he has not got the stereotypical "Joker" look about him. I think these fears should be squashed now as this looks genuinely creepy. I've already heard the cries of "That red stuff looks crap though" at work today but I love it. I think its there to try exaggerate the fact he has what looks like a "Glasgow Smile" so he puts make-up on his scars as he sees this as his real smile.

I hope that this is real as this along with the news of Aaron Eckhart playing Harvey Dent makes me very excited about this film.

More posts to come soon folks I promise!

The dying art of the movie poster.

I'm not sure about the film at the moment but I think this poster is fantastic. More and more studios are getting lazy with their posters and resort to just using the cast against a shitty back drop. More imagination should be put into promoting movies if people are worried cinema visits are dropping.

My HTML project.

Thank god I've been given a 4 week extension for this project. I have to design a web site and place a 360 frame stop motion animation on it. Now with this project the planning is all well and good and pretty interesting but when it comes to actually creating it, fuck me its boring. Not only is doing the mark up for the site very boring and repetitive but when I actually start my film I can't imagine how bad that will be. For those who don't know stop motion is the kind of thing they use to make "Wallace and Gromit" and the like. Mine has to be done using photographs as I'm doing it on my 12 inch stormtrooper coming to life. The scene with the blaster rifle bolt will take the piss as it will include a lot of work in photoshop moving the bolt a couple of mm each frame for about 30 photographs.

Updates to come!

I knew it!

I wish I was wrong about it but it looks like I wasn't. Marvel have just put out this variant cover to issue 7 of "Punisher: War Journal". Frank Castle is the new Captain America!

Spidey 3

Aint it cool have posted some pics from Spider-man 3 and this is one of them. I wasn't sure about using Venom up until now but this looks like they could actually pull it off. (Original picture was removed but the bottom left concept drawing is very similar)

Tuesday 6 March 2007

Ouch!

Woke up this morning feeling like I had been repeatedly punched in the neck. I keep getting these terrible pains/cramps in my neck and it has to be the most painful thing ever. This coming from the guy who broke his wrist in two places and has been run over twice. My housemate is such a fucker he thought it was funny so he insisted on trying to make me laugh all day as this bought on the cramps/pain. Someone tells me I may have pinched a nerve. I found this on it:

"The term pinched nerve describes one type of damage or injury to a nerve or set of nerves. The injury may result from compression, constriction, or stretching. Symptoms include numbness, "pins and needles" or burning sensations, and pain radiating outward from the injured area. One of the most common examples of a single compressed nerve is the feeling of having a foot or hand "fall asleep." Pinched nerves can sometimes lead to other conditions such as peripheral neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, and tennis elbow. The extent of such injuries may vary from minor, temporary damage to a more permanent condition. Early diagnosis is important to prevent further damage or complications. Pinched nerve is a common cause of on-the-job injury."

Its much goddamn worse than pins and needles I can tell you that. Weren't up to uni so I just stayed in and started watching the fifth season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and I have to say it just doesn't get boring, its still as funny as ever. I'm going to watch a few more episodes then have an early night. Work tomorrow I just hope my neck feels better otherwise I am truly fucked.

So Tired...

As you can see I didn't post again last night this is due to the fact that I fell asleep at the computer at around 6am. I got quite a bit done though but it meant I only had around 3 hours sleep before my presentation. We explained our idea for our studio piece and I have to say I'm impressed on how well I blagged it. We dragged it out to around 10 minutes and we hadn't even had a practice. The tutor gave us our feedback on which she had wrote "well prepared"!

I am knackered though now and I have to be up for around 7:30 tomorrow for work. Hopefully the N&C Audio/Visual club are going to see "A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints". More on that tomorrow if we do.

Time for a bit more "Shield" now though I think.

Tatty Bye Bye.

Face Melting? Yes Please!

Contender for film of the year? Not too sure yet but definitely one for film of the month.

Me, Last Minute? Never!

Its 2:33 in the am and I'm still preparing for a presentation that I have tomorrow at 11 o' clock. I'm sure its only two minutes long but a) theres rumours its 2o minutes long and b)I can use this as an excuse to push me to get quite a bit of work done.

Let you know when I'm done...

Huzzah!

Today I finished my second essay for Uni. I started about five days ago but finishing today still doesn't feel "last minute" to me and I have been known for this in the past so I'm quite proud of myself. I am worried about this one because I feel once I got into it, it was too easy. This isn't me showing off as this is why it has taken me so long to finish as I've been worrying and re-reading the brief over and over again. I think in the future if this is the case I should make sure to see one of my tutors and get them to read a draft. I did try that this week but I couldn't find any of them. I suppose I could have tried harder though. At least now I have a few days to myself to do what I like after work.

My student loan came through this week which was good because it meant I could buy some shite. I bought a new pair of trainers, some DVDs (know I'll end up getting more) and some CDs. I also put some of the money into my savings account as I think its time to start growing up. I could still work on making sure I watch my money better. It sounds boring but it might be time to start making up some budgets.

Reconnaissance

I thought maybe people would find it easier to read my blog if they knew a little something about me.

First of all my name is Mike. I tend to think of myself as a fairly happy person but some people have told me that I seem to be a little bit of a misanthrope. There are not many people that I actually like but I am loving life . This is mainly thanks to that fact that I am finally where I want to be at the moment with a great job and getting on well at Uni.

I'm in my first year at University studying Media Production. So far I've had to do two assignments which were a video and an essay. My video hasn't been marked yet but I recieved a first on my essay which I was chuffed with. I'll try and put it up on here at some point. After Uni I'd like to be either a photographer or camera man with something to do with animals and nature e.g. "Planet Earth" or "National Geographic". If not this I'd quite like to be an editor or writer. As well as Uni I work part-time at a comic shop.

This is probably going to end up being a long entry as I'm about to write about my hobbies and interests. My main interest probably lies in film. This also being one of the reasons I decided to take the path I have at Uni. I love all types of movies whether they be english speaking or not, comedy to drama and brilliant to the not so brilliant. The best film I have watched recently was "I Heart Huckabees". I could never pick a favourite film I don't think as we had this conversation at work recently and it was just too difficult.

Next is music. My true love of music started when I was just starting secondary school and I got hold of a copy of "The Colour and the Shape" by "The Foo Fighters" and I absolutely fell in love with it. That led to me listening to lots more guitar based stuff including metal but lead me more down a path towards indie but I was still open to anything. About two years ago I slowly started listening to a lot more hip-hop. It seems now my love for hip-hop has progressed again as I now seem to have a huge hunger for jazz and blues and I really cannot get enough. I really feel my music taste is very eclectic as I will give anything a try.

Next is comics. I read comics as a kid when I was about 8 for a good few years. I remember reading "Beano" and "X-men". My mom told me I could only choose one and without pausing "Beano" got dropped like a greased up baby. I stopped reading "X-men" but then a few years later I started reading comics again on and off. It was only about two years ago when I again started reading regularly. I'll read anything as long as its good. Comics aren't just about super people and the sooner people realise this the sooner some of these books will have the audience that they deserve. Don't get me wrong though I hate superhero nazis.

I also read "proper" books, pick up toys from Japan when I can, play some video games and love to travel. I think I've gone on more than long enough for today.

See you on the other side.

Blogging Virginity

Yes I am losing it, not my mind but my blogging virginity.

I always thought these things were pretty useless to be honest but I am being forced to keep one for one of my units at University. I think it is mainly supposed to have me focus on my aims and goals in life but that would just be boring tripe, not only for people to read but for me to type as well. I'll try and include all my Uni sort of stuff, work stuff, stuff that takes up my time out of these settings and my thoughts and feelings and all that nonsense. I'm not sure I'll keep on track with this as I see it as something I'll probably a) get bored with b) forget about or c) realise I have nothing worth typing about. I hope to post at least once a week which, to be fair seems fairly realistic.

I think I'll try to end most posts with the last thing I read, watched and listened to. Just in case you gain nothing from reading the blog at least you'll find out some good (or maybe not so) shit to read, listen to and watch.

One Love
