Huzzah!

Today I finished my second essay for Uni. I started about five days ago but finishing today still doesn't feel "last minute" to me and I have been known for this in the past so I'm quite proud of myself. I am worried about this one because I feel once I got into it, it was too easy. This isn't me showing off as this is why it has taken me so long to finish as I've been worrying and re-reading the brief over and over again. I think in the future if this is the case I should make sure to see one of my tutors and get them to read a draft. I did try that this week but I couldn't find any of them. I suppose I could have tried harder though. At least now I have a few days to myself to do what I like after work.

My student loan came through this week which was good because it meant I could buy some shite. I bought a new pair of trainers, some DVDs (know I'll end up getting more) and some CDs. I also put some of the money into my savings account as I think its time to start growing up. I could still work on making sure I watch my money better. It sounds boring but it might be time to start making up some budgets.

Reconnaissance

I thought maybe people would find it easier to read my blog if they knew a little something about me.

First of all my name is Mike. I tend to think of myself as a fairly happy person but some people have told me that I seem to be a little bit of a misanthrope. There are not many people that I actually like but I am loving life . This is mainly thanks to that fact that I am finally where I want to be at the moment with a great job and getting on well at Uni.

I'm in my first year at University studying Media Production. So far I've had to do two assignments which were a video and an essay. My video hasn't been marked yet but I recieved a first on my essay which I was chuffed with. I'll try and put it up on here at some point. After Uni I'd like to be either a photographer or camera man with something to do with animals and nature e.g. "Planet Earth" or "National Geographic". If not this I'd quite like to be an editor or writer. As well as Uni I work part-time at a comic shop.

This is probably going to end up being a long entry as I'm about to write about my hobbies and interests. My main interest probably lies in film. This also being one of the reasons I decided to take the path I have at Uni. I love all types of movies whether they be english speaking or not, comedy to drama and brilliant to the not so brilliant. The best film I have watched recently was "I Heart Huckabees". I could never pick a favourite film I don't think as we had this conversation at work recently and it was just too difficult.

Next is music. My true love of music started when I was just starting secondary school and I got hold of a copy of "The Colour and the Shape" by "The Foo Fighters" and I absolutely fell in love with it. That led to me listening to lots more guitar based stuff including metal but lead me more down a path towards indie but I was still open to anything. About two years ago I slowly started listening to a lot more hip-hop. It seems now my love for hip-hop has progressed again as I now seem to have a huge hunger for jazz and blues and I really cannot get enough. I really feel my music taste is very eclectic as I will give anything a try.

Next is comics. I read comics as a kid when I was about 8 for a good few years. I remember reading "Beano" and "X-men". My mom told me I could only choose one and without pausing "Beano" got dropped like a greased up baby. I stopped reading "X-men" but then a few years later I started reading comics again on and off. It was only about two years ago when I again started reading regularly. I'll read anything as long as its good. Comics aren't just about super people and the sooner people realise this the sooner some of these books will have the audience that they deserve. Don't get me wrong though I hate superhero nazis.

I also read "proper" books, pick up toys from Japan when I can, play some video games and love to travel. I think I've gone on more than long enough for today.

See you on the other side.

Blogging Virginity

Yes I am losing it, not my mind but my blogging virginity.

I always thought these things were pretty useless to be honest but I am being forced to keep one for one of my units at University. I think it is mainly supposed to have me focus on my aims and goals in life but that would just be boring tripe, not only for people to read but for me to type as well. I'll try and include all my Uni sort of stuff, work stuff, stuff that takes up my time out of these settings and my thoughts and feelings and all that nonsense. I'm not sure I'll keep on track with this as I see it as something I'll probably a) get bored with b) forget about or c) realise I have nothing worth typing about. I hope to post at least once a week which, to be fair seems fairly realistic.

I think I'll try to end most posts with the last thing I read, watched and listened to. Just in case you gain nothing from reading the blog at least you'll find out some good (or maybe not so) shit to read, listen to and watch.

One Love
